Muladhara (Root) is the Sanskrit name for the chakra located at the base of the spine. It is usually represented by the color red. This wheel, or vortex, of pranic energy is said to form the basis of our spiritual development and nourishment. In Kundalini yoga, spiritual energy is rooted in the muladhara chakra where it sleeps until it is awakened and drawn up the spine.
Swadhisthana (Sacral) Located in the lower abdomen below the navel, the sacral chakra or svadhisthana is the second in your seven chakras. The Sanskrit name translates to “one's own dwelling”. The sacral chakra is associated with the emotional body, sensuality, and creativity.
Manipura (Solar Plexus) The Manipura Chakra is situated behind the navel. Its Mantra is RAM. When our consciousness has reached the Manipura Chakra we have overcome the negative aspects of Svadhishthana. The Manipura Chakra contains many precious jewels such as the qualities of clarity, self-confidence, bliss, self-assurance, knowledge, wisdom and the ability to make correct decisions.

Anahata (Heart) The anahata chakra is associated with unconditional love, compassion, and joy. It is the source of deep and profound truths that cannot be expressed in words. Anahata is a bridge between the lower and upper chakras integrating the manifest with the spiritual.

Vishuddha(Throat), is the first of the three spiritual chakras. To be open and aligned in the fifth chakra is to speak, listen, and express yourself from a higher form of communication.

Ajna (Third Eye) The energy of Ajna allows us to access our inner guidance that comes from the depths of our being. It allows us to cut through illusion and to access deeper truths - to see beyond the mind, beyond the words.

Sahasrara The crown or the seventh chakra is located at the top of the head. Just as the Root or First Chakra connects us to the Mother Earth, the Crown Chakra is our connection to the Universe. In fact, the Seventh Chakra disperses the Universal energy or life force into the six other chakras located below it. When the Kundalini is raised up to Sahasrara chakra, the illusion of individual self is dissolved.
